The mission of the IRCHS Golf program is to develop young players for future pursuits in golf. The target population of this program is students with prior golf experience and/or a high-degree of motivation: they are junior golfers who desire advanced social play, entrance to a post-secondary golf program, and/or a career in the field of golf.
Curriculum focuses on developing skills, etiquette, and improved understanding of golf history and the golf industry. Expectations for on-course behavior are high, and instruction is thorough. The program’s partnership with
The Links at Pointe West gives students access to Pointe West’s 9-acre practice facility, including a unique short game area, putting greens, bunkers and expansive grass teeing areas.
Before entering the IRCHS Golf program, a student completes a personal interview with Mr. Cammarene. Existing golfing skills are assessed and the student's goals in golf are identified. Students may enroll in the program for a total of eight semesters over four years, earning four credits towards their high school diploma. Students are expected to complete all academic requirements of the IRCHS core program in addition to their golf program requirements. Students also have the option of dual enrollment classes at Indian River Community College.
